PsA & its
symptoms

Some symptoms of PsA

PsA causes inflammation in and around the joints and commonly affects those who suffer with psoriasis

Symptoms can include pain and stiffness in and around the joints and pitting or discolouration of the nails. Below are some more possible symptoms of PsA.

Enthesitis

Symptoms of enthesitis are pain and inflammation in particular areas of the body. It's common to get enthesitis in your foot, which is called Achilles tendonitis. You might feel this as pain and inflammation in the back of the heel. Enthesitis can also occur in your fingers, toes, pelvis, knees or upper body. Up to half of people who have PsA will have enthesitis, so it's very common.

Dactylitis

When fingers and toes get inflamed and swollen, this is known as dactylitis and can sometimes be referred to as 'sausage digits'. Up to 4 in 10 people with PsA get this. Different toes can swell on different feet and it's more often seen in toes than fingers. A certain quirk to the condition means it's often the fourth toe that swells. It is important that your doctor is aware if these related symptoms are affecting you.
